"Gonzalez!" Mr. Hanson's face darkened, "Don't make such jokes in front of our guests!"
Xavier stood up and said, "You continue your conversation. I'm going outside for a smoke!"
Ignoring everyone's reaction, he turned and walked out.
The dining room fell into a momentary silence. Mrs. Porter exchanged a meaningful glance with Daisy.
Daisy stood up and said in a soft tone, "Please enjoy your meal. I need to use the restroom."
With that, she left the room as well.
Mya chuckled awkwardly and said, "Gonzalez must be joking. Let’s not take it seriously!"
Mr. Hanson's face was stern, but he managed a forced smile. "Mrs. Porter, enjoy the meal. Let the young ones sort their own affairs!"
"Yes, yes!" Mrs. Porter nodded repeatedly. "Young people have their own ideas and there's a generation gap between us. If we say too much, they'll just get upset!"
After looking around outside, Daisy finally found Xavier in the guest lounge area, where he was smoking.
Xavier casually leaned against a couch, playing game on his phone and paid no attention to Daisy as she approached.
Daisy adjusted her dress, sat down next to him, and said with a soft smile, "Mr. Hanson, when you said you were gay, was it just a way to appease the elders? You don't want to get married, so you found an excuse, right?"
Xavier shot her a glance, extinguished his cigarette in an ashtray, and replied in a cold tone, "Think whatever you like!"
Daisy blinked and scooted a little closer to him. "Actually, I don't want to get married either. My mom forced me to go on that blind date. We can collaborate, pretend to be in a relationship, and that way, the elders will stop pestering us."
Xavier looked at her, and said in an indifferent tone, "I'm not interested in you. Don't waste your time on me."
A trace of disappointment flickered across Daisy's face, but she didn't want to give up. She didn’t believe she lacked charm!
Xavier walked toward the restaurant’s outdoor terrace. And as he looked up, he indeed saw the moon in the sky, just as bright and round as Norah had described.
He didn't know that Norah was sitting not far way in a on of the private dining rooms.
This Thanksgiving Day, Cathrine Lamont had suggested going out to celebrate, and the whole family was dining at the hotel.
Janice Harper noticed Norah constantly checking her phone with a smile playing on her lips.
"Norah, are you messaging your boyfriend?" Janice asked directly.
The room instantly fell silent. Everyone turned to look at Norah. Cathrine laughed, "I was wondering why we hardly see you around these days. You're in love!"
Janice asked, "Is it with Adrian Chambers?"
"Adrian?" Alcott Lamont exclaimed in surprise, "The heir of the Chambers family?"
