Chapter 434 Charity Dinner
By noon, Megan was back at Maria's beauty salon.
As soon as Maria walked in, Megan spoke up carefully, "Aunt Maria, did Hudson get settled okay?"
Maria bolted the door and then hit Megan with a question, "Besides your mom, Nola, and Jasper, who else is in the know about you bringing the kid back home?"
Megan shook her head. "No one else."
She was gonna use this kid to make Hugh feel guilty and take her in.
But before Megan could say a word, he got mad at her.
Thank goodness she didn't tell him.
Maria let out a sigh of relief. "I'll talk to your mom and Jasper, make them keep it a secret. Later, I'll find someone to help clean up your identity. You've got to be seen as single and child-free to marry into a wealthy family. Just act like you never had that kid."
Tears welled up in Megan's eyes with gratitude. "Don't worry, Aunt Maria. I wish that little bastard were dead!"
Now that Hugh had turned against me, that kid was just a burden.
She was actually glad Maria came to help her get rid of this big headache.
As long as no one in the country knew about her marriage and child abroad, she could start over.
Maria gently wiped Megan's tears. "Stop crying. Tomorrow, I'll take you to a charity dinner hosted by the wealthy. It'll be a good experience."
The next evening at eight, it was the Butt family's charity dinner.
Gwen, in a champagne-gold sequined deep-V, high-slit evening gown, was standing at the entrance, arm in arm with Mason. She had a long black coat draped over her shoulders.
Mason glanced down at her deep-V neckline and pulled the coat closer around her. "You know my cousin has a crush on you. Why wear something like this?"
Yanking the coat off, Gwen said, "I'm not scared with you by my side."
Mason tried to put it back on her, but Gwen kept pulling it off.
Their little tug-of-war at the entrance got on Gwen's nerves. "Mason!"
Mason pouted when he met her fiery eyes. He draped the coat over his arm. "Fine, don't wear it. No need to yell at me."
Gwen looped her arm through his again. "You made me mad."
They glared at each other and headed towards the entrance.
Just as they reached the door, Mason removed the hairpin from Gwen's head.
Her long, silky hair cascaded down, and he quickly ruffled it to cover her chest.
