Chapter 423 Megan's Here
At John F. Kennedy International Airport, Yvonne took the suitcase from Bethan's hand.
"Hey, having a well-connected friend ain't half bad. Way better than fighting with each other," she quipped.
Bethan looked a bit remorseful. "You went out of your way to stay a couple more days, and I couldn't even show you a good time."
Yvonne, ever the gossip enthusiast, brushed it off. "Bethan, that woman who was all over Mr. Cavill at the birthday bash? She's a piece of work. You gotta watch your back."
"Don't worry. I'll steer clear of her." Bethan nodded obediently.
Megan might have big ambitions, but her tactics were lackluster.
All the heartache Bethan had suffered was thanks to Hugh, not anyone else.
In both this life and the last, she'd never see Megan as competition.
After seeing Yvonne off, Bethan headed straight back to the hospital.
Around 2 p.m., Tristen showed up with a cute, cartoon-themed handbag. "Gloria made these homemade fruit candies. Thought you'd like some," he said, handing it over.
"Thanks," Bethan replied, popping a candy into her mouth. "Mmm, these are amazing."
Tristen chuckled at her childlike enthusiasm. He then said, "I've pushed back your internship conversion. I'm sending you to Canada next week. You'll be back around the end of the year. Cool with that?"
"Sure thing." Bethan gave a quick nod.
Tristen raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you even gonna ask why?"
Bethan trusted Tristen implicitly. "You've always looked out for me. I'll just go with the flow."
In her past life, Tristen had been her ticket to career success.
He was her lucky charm and financial angel.
So, his words were gospel.
As the workday neared its end, a call from Fiona came in.
At 7 p.m., Bethan found herself at a swanky downtown restaurant.
At the sight of her, Gwen jumped up to pull out a chair. "Bethan! Over here."
Bethan greeted Fiona politely and took the seat next to Gwen.
Gwen, always the impatient one, got straight to the point. "Bethan, Mom and I asked you here to find out how your talk with Hugh went last night."
Bethan didn't beat around the bush. "Fiona, Gwen, Huggie and I had it out. We realized our relationship is more like siblings. We're gonna hold onto this family connection."

At the same time, in the Regal Club, on the second-floor corridor's far end, the last private room awaited.
