Yvonne held her phone in silence for a long time.
Then suddenly, she laughed. “Lucas, don’t you think you’re being a little hypocritical?”
“What do you mean?”
“What do I mean?” Yvonne’s lips curved. “You were the one who told my parents to take me back, and now you want me to return so you can keep filming that show.
“Do you even know how people online are talking about me right now? Have you ever thought about how I feel? Ever since you married Aurora, you’ve completely changed. Everything you do now revolves around her.”
Lucas asked seriously, “You said it yourself—I’m married to her. If I don’t stand from her perspective, am I supposed to think from yours?”
Yvonne fell silent at that.
After a long pause, she muttered, “Anyway, I’m not going back. You’ve seen what’s happening online. Everyone’s against me. What’s the point of going back? I’d rather stay abroad and focus on running my studio.”
Hearing that, Lucas realized just how irresponsible she’d become.
“So you’re blaming me for this now?”
He gave a short laugh. “I only protected the person I should protect. If you don’t want to come back, then why should I bother forcing you?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
Yvonne’s voice trembled slightly. His tone made her uneasy.
If she had once been useful to him, now it felt like she meant nothing at all.
“Exactly what it sounds like.”
Lucas’ voice grew colder. “If you can’t understand that, then I have nothing more to say.”
