Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1677

“I got it. You don’t have to keep reminding me.”

Yvonne said impatiently, “At this hour, what’s the point of going home? Do they plan to torture me or something?”

“Of course not, Miss. You must have misunderstood.”

The driver tried to defend Michelle and Charles. “Mr. and Mrs. Song truly care about you. When they heard you were coming back, they even asked the butler to prepare a whole table of dishes just to welcome you.”

“You work for them. Do you really think I’d believe a word you say?”

The driver fell silent. “Miss, we haven’t seen each other in so long. I have no reason to lie to you. Even if they were strict before, they truly love you.”

He spoke earnestly. “And when they heard you were returning, they couldn’t contain their joy. They’ve been busy all day arranging a welcome dinner for you.”

“It’s already so late. What’s the point of a welcome dinner now?”

Still, the driver continued to persuade her. “Miss, you should go home first. They’re waiting for you.”

“Enough, I said I got it!”

Yvonne snapped, shouting at the driver, “You’re just a driver. Who gave you the right to lecture me? You’d better spend your time learning how to drive properly.”

“Yes, Miss. I understand.”

The driver didn’t dare to speak again and quietly focused on the road.

He knew his place in the household was low.

He was nothing more than a servant; he had no right to speak so much, let alone lecture the young lady.

Even saying this much today had taken all his courage.

He just felt that Charles and Michelle truly cared for her, and if she didn’t go home immediately, he’d end up being blamed for it too.
