Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1613

She had always been a persistent person, and once Lucas entered her life, that stubborn streak only grew stronger.

In the past, she hadn’t needed to push him like that because there had never been any other woman around him, only her.

So, she hadn’t been in a hurry. She could take her time, stay by his side, and let things unfold slowly.

But now that Aurora was in the picture, everything changed. For the first time, Yvonne understood what it meant to feel threatened.

That was why, after much hesitation, she finally asked that question.

She needed to know what she meant to Lucas, to hear the truth from him and force herself to let go once and for all.

But when Lucas heard her words, there wasn’t the slightest ripple in his heart.

In fact, he found it almost laughable. “Yvonne, don’t you think you’re being ridiculous?”

“What do you mean by that?”

Her heart felt as if it had shattered into pieces, but she still held back her tears and forced herself to ask.

She clung to that final thread of hope, wishing he might show her some compassion.

Instead, Lucas gave a quiet, humorless laugh. “I have a family now. Do you really think this question still matters?

“You already know who holds my heart. You just refuse to accept it.”

Those words hit her like a blow. She leaned back weakly, the light in her eyes fading, her voice barely a whisper. “You really mean that?”

Hearing that, Lucas’ patience finally ran out. The conversation no longer held any meaning.

“If you’re going to stay this delusional, maybe it’s best to have your parents bring you back overseas.”

With that, he hung up the call, leaving Yvonne staring blankly at her phone.

Deep down, she knew this time he was serious. There wasn’t even the slightest trace of warmth left in his voice.

Staring at the ended call, Yvonne felt a sudden emptiness settle in her chest.
