Aurora Walton and Lucas Carter novel Chapter 1614

After all, everyone knew she was publicly known for liking Lucas.

So why was she calling Edwin now? Even she couldn’t make sense of it.

Ten minutes later, Edwin called back. “I’m here.”

By then, Yvonne was already getting ready to head out.

She hung up, still dazed, but instinctively started fixing her makeup and gathering her things.

After all, she was the one who’d asked him out.

It would look bad not to show up.

When they finally met, an awkward tension filled the air.

“Edwin, I’m sorry for dragging you out like this,” Yvonne said softly.

He noticed the redness at the corners of her eyes and instantly understood something had happened, but he didn’t pry.

Instead, he called over the waiter and ordered two glasses of strong liquor.

He slid one across the table to her. “They say alcohol helps drown your troubles. You could use a try.”

A faint smile tugged at his lips. “Besides, I looked up this place before coming. It’s pretty well-known. Apparently, every drink here carries a different meaning.”

“Really?” Yvonne’s voice was hoarse, shaky, the kind that betrayed a night of crying.

Even a fool could tell she’d been in tears.

But Edwin only arched a brow, choosing not to expose her vulnerability.

“Whether it’s true or not, we should still give it a shot. Life’s too long to stay stuck in one moment.”

Hearing that, Yvonne gave a faint, self-mocking smile.
