A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 81

"Alright, got it, " Demi replied.

"After you posted on Twitter, text me, and I'll retweet it," Maria said.

Demi replied, "It's okay, Maria. It's late now. You should go to bed."

"How can I sleep? If I hadn't insisted you help them, none of this would've happened," Maria said regretfully.

Demi said, "It's not your fault."

The conflict between her and the Pitt family would likely arise sooner or later—if not now, then next time. Bigger conflicts were expected to occur in the future, and they had very little to do with Maria.

"Demi, what happened?" Margaret asked with concern as soon as Demi ended the call.

Since it was quiet at night and she was sitting next to Demi, Margaret had overheard most of the conversation. It was about getting enraged by online comments, explanations, clarifications, poisoning, and accusations of indifference.

"Nothing, Grandma," Demi replied while she installed Twitter on her phone.

Upon hearing this, Margaret was upset and powerless, and she said, "You always keep things bottled up! Now that you think I'm useless is it?"

In the past, when Demi and Timothy were bullied, they would also hide it from her. She knew they didn't want her to worry. But after she found out about it, she felt more helpless and guilty. It was all because she was useless and unable to help her grandchildren.

Understanding Margaret's concern, Demi sighed and explained briefly, "When filming the show, a guest accidentally picked poisonous mushrooms. I warned her about it, but she didn't believe me, and thought I was tricking her.

"So she picked her own mushrooms, and in the end, her brother got poisoned. Now people are blaming me, so my friend suggested I clarify it online."

Knowing that Margaret had actually heard it all, Demi decided not to hide anything from her.
