Demi raised her brow and coldly said, "If you have something to say, say it here. Also, where exactly do you mean by 'home?' My home and yours are not the same place!"
On the side, Charles saw that the crowd was gathering to watch the commotion and couldn't help but shout at them, "If you have nothing to do, leave now! Don't make me ask you to go!"
Only then did the onlookers gradually disperse.
Stephen also felt much more at ease. He patiently looked at Demi and said warmly, "Emi, I know you're angry at us. Your brothers… Alex and Thomas should have told you about our plans. I believe you've seen our sincerity! We did treat you unfairly before, but that won't happen again!"
Demi curled her lips into a smile. "Such great sincerity! Too bad I don't need it anymore!"
With that, Demi bypassed Stephen and strode away.
Stephen quickly turned around and chased after her. "Demi, no matter what you think, at least give us a chance to explain. Let's sit down and talk. Whatever grievances you've suffered, whatever you hope for in the future—we can discuss it."
Demi stopped in her tracks when she heard that. She turned around and looked at Stephen mockingly. "Do I really need to spell out the grievances I suffered at the Pitts'? Didn't you personally cause them? What, have you forgotten?"
Stephen had no retort to that. Thomas was right—Demi's resentment wasn't just because they left her behind in a burning car. It was also due to all the little things over the years.
"We know we were wrong now. I'm apologizing on behalf of the whole family. Come home with me so we can have a proper conversation," Stephen said as he softened his voice.
If it weren't for Dylan coughing up blood when looking at Demi's photo, he would never have humbled himself like this!
"No. Grandma is waiting for me to have dinner. In the past…"
Demi didn't mention that she was talking about her past life and continued indifferently, "I was foolish and didn't know who my true family was! But now, I've finally come to my senses, and I won't make the same mistakes again!"
After speaking, she walked away with large strides. Charles and the two other lackeys quickly followed her.
Stephen instinctively wanted to chase after her, but in the end, he only took half a step before stopping.
Was she really that angry?
