Derek came today for one reason only—to ask this question. Everything else had just been small talk leading up to it.
Ever since he saw the furious WhatsApp message Felix had sent Charles, he had been itching to get to the bottom of it.
Felix was already a grown man, yet he hadn't even held a girl's hand before.
On top of that, he was ridiculously picky, what people these days would call a total straight-laced nerd.
The family was genuinely worried he'd end up alone.
Felix only needed a second to realize who Derek was referring to.
"Uncle Derek, don't be ridiculous. She's only 16," Felix frowned.
"Yeah, sixteen. Still young, I suppose. But not that young. Kids these days start dating way earlier," Derek said with a grin.
Felix remained silent.
"Of course, we're not that kind of people. Just wait two more years, and she'll be an adult," Derek continued, carefully watching Felix's expression.
Unfortunately, Felix had always been a master at keeping a straight face—cold as ice, completely unreadable.
"Uncle Derek, it's not like that between us," Felix said seriously.
Not like that? Then why did Felix blow up the moment someone messed with her?
"Well, obviously not now, she's still young. But those brats at school don't care about age. They might start chasing after her any day now. And if someone…"
Derek trailed off deliberately, studying Felix's expression before adding, "Want me to have Charles keep an eye on her? Make sure none of those punks try anything?"
Felix instinctively started to say no, but something made him change his mind before the words fully left his mouth. "Keeping an eye on her wouldn't hurt," he said.
After a brief pause, he added, "Just so she doesn't get tricked by anyone."
The moment Felix finished speaking, Derek burst into hearty laughter.
For someone who always complained about Felix's cold demeanor, Derek wasn't much better himself.
Moments like this—where he actually laughed out loud—were rare.
But watching Felix fall head over heels and still stubbornly refuse to admit it? Now that was comedy gold.
If Felix knew what Derek was thinking, he'd be completely speechless.
"Alright, I'll talk to Charles about it later," Derek said with a grin.
Felix stayed silent. Why was he even discussing this with Derek? He could just tell Charles himself.
Besides, he and Demi weren't like that.
He just felt responsible for looking out for her. She didn't have parents to do it, after all.
Not that Derek would believe him even if he explained.
After that, Derek enthusiastically launched into a lecture on interacting with girls and winning their favor.
Felix listened in silence the entire time, and Derek assumed it was because he was shy.
But Felix still learned some useful information, such as how to choose the right gifts or decipher the hidden meanings behind certain things girls said or did.
