A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 209

"Uh… I just wanted to ask how you met my brother Felix. The guy next door," Charles said, his face brimming with curiosity and gossip.

"Why don't you ask your cousin? Didn't you just come from his place?" Demi replied, grabbing some food while eyeing him curiously.

"He's not exactly the easiest person to talk to. Asking him a question is like pulling teeth," Charles said with a dramatic sigh.

Demi couldn't help but chuckle.

"Mr. Harrington is pretty easy to talk to," Margaret said.

"Heh! I was just joking," Charles laughed, not wanting Demi or her family to run off to snitch on Felix.

Then, he turned back to Demi. "So, how did you two meet?"

"You should ask your cousin," Demi dodged the question.

If Felix hadn't said anything, she wasn't about to either. The last thing she wanted was to accidentally overstep with someone as influential as him.

"Alright, fine. Forget it," Charles sighed and went back to his meal.

He had to admit that the food at the Moone residence tasted just as good as it smelled.

After dinner, Charles slid into the back seat of his family's car and immediately pulled out his phone. He sent a message to a WhatsApp group called YOLO Squad.

"From now on, keep an eye out. If anyone messes with Demi, let me know right away."

"Whoa, Charles, what's up with you suddenly wanting to protect Demi? You two close?"

"Charles, we'll see you in class tomorrow. Couldn't this wait till then? Why the late-night announcement?"

"Charles, don't tell me you've got a thing for Demi?"

"Mr. Fuller, Demi was badass yesterday! No wonder she's your type."

"So Charles, you're into tough girls, huh? That explains why you ignored all those delicate little rich girls who confessed to you before."

"Guess we got ourselves a sister-in-law now, haha…"

The group chat instantly turned chaotic, filled with teasing and wild assumptions.

Charles replied, "Cut it out. Demi has some history with my family, and I was told to look out for her. But damn it, I was just one day late, and something already happened. Got chewed out for it at home."

He added, "I'm sending this now before I forget. If I sleep on it, I might not remember in the morning."

"Oh, got it."
