Was Charles a martial arts enthusiast?
Demi was surprised.
"Do you know martial arts?" Charles also raised a brow in surprise. "That explains it! What did you learn? Taekwondo? Boxing?"
"Just some basic moves," Demi replied vaguely.
"I see." Charles nodded and turned back to his book.
…
After the first period, Luna called Demi outside the classroom, wanting to inform her about Jacob's decision regarding Joseph and Gerald.
But before she could say anything, the school broadcast came on. "Joseph Pope and Gerald Hudson from the International Program have repeatedly bullied their classmates and refused to change their ways. They have been expelled after discussions among the board. We hope all students will take this as a warning, treat each other with respect, and abide by school rules!"
The announcement was repeated three times before it ended.
"I was going to tell you the result, but now you've heard it yourself. No one in the class should bother you anymore. You handled this well by going to Jacob instead of acting impulsively," Luna said to Demi.
She hesitated before lowering her voice. "Your deskmate, Charles, is the heir of the school's largest shareholder–the Fuller family. Be careful when dealing with him. I can also arrange a seat change for you."
Luna was worried that Demi's temper might cause conflicts with Charles, which could end badly for her.
There used to be only one empty seat in class, so placing Demi alone in the back row seemed fine. But with Joseph and Gerald expelled, two more seats had opened up.
"It's fine. I think Charles is pretty nice." Demi smiled.
…
Demi finally understood why Rowena and the other two had targeted her.
As she was about to leave the classroom during lunch, she noticed Rowena, Seraphina, and Xendaya chatting with Ana.
Not only did they talk during breaks, but they also went to lunch together, suggesting they were quite close.
Was it something Ana had said? Or maybe she hinted at something, leading Rowena and the others to think they needed to teach Demi a lesson?
