"That's right," Felix said, his tone steady yet earnest. "Dr. Simon may have his doubts, but Demi has cured me. We can't judge her by normal standards. If she says Mr. West Senior can come home, then let him. He's miserable in that hospital anyway."
Simon Finnegan, mind you, was Seamus' grandfather. At 134, the venerable doctor no longer had the energy to make house calls and spent most of his days in a near-comatose state. He was once hailed as the finest practitioner of traditional medicine in Cartro—and now he was the oldest man alive.
The six West siblings exchanged uneasy glances before Carson finally broke the silence. "We talked yesterday. Since Dad wants to leave the hospital, we should respect his wishes. But we want Demi and Dr. Finnegan to stick around, at least until Dad is fully on his feet. That way, if anything happens, help is right there."
Felix shook his head reflexively. "That's just not gonna happen. Demi has school and her own career. She can't be by Mr. West Senior's side 24/7."
Benson piped in confidently, "We've thought it over. Academically, we can hire her a tutor—someone far better than what her school provides.
"When she applies to college, we'll make sure she gets in. And for her acting career, we're prepared to cover any medical expenses. Once Dad recovers, we'll even help boost her career further. None of that should be a problem."
Wilson leaned forward, his eyes pleading. "Felix, you're the one who gets these young folks. Can you talk to her about it?"
Wilson knew all too well that he and his siblings had already upset Demi, and given their temperaments, if they went to negotiate, things would definitely fall apart.
"This... won't be easy," Felix said, his expression troubled.
Even though he hadn't known Demi for long, he just knew there was no way she would agree to these terms. He had already mentioned it before—Demi couldn't be measured by ordinary standards.
"Felix, we're counting on you," Millie said, looking at him with a pleading expression.
