A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 186

"I don't know if you all worry too much, but I do know that if you keep defying me, no one could save me!" Benedict snapped, his tone icy.

The six siblings fell silent.

"Dad, we talked outside just now," Carson said gently. "If you want to come home, you can—but you have to promise to steer clear of any risky business."

"Relax. I know how to take care of myself," Benedict grumbled with a laugh.

The next morning, early as dawn broke, Demi stepped outside and found Felix waiting by the door.

"I'm taking you kids to school today, and I'll introduce you to the principal and your homeroom teacher," Felix said cheerfully.

Demi raised an eyebrow. She thought to herself that Felix had only mentioned that he'd arranged it. Without a formal referral, he'd probably have to handle it himself.

"That would be a big help," Demi replied politely.

"Not at all. I'm free," Felix answered with a smile.

Demi couldn't help but recall the last time he said he was free and then got a phone call reporting some urgent matter. She smirked softly at the memory.

The driver opened the car door for them, and Felix settled into the front passenger seat while Demi and her younger brother, Timothy, climbed into the back.

At the doorway, Margaret watched with worry. "If anything happens, call me immediately—and don't get into any trouble," she urged, her voice laced with concern.

"I got it, Grandma. You go on back inside," Demi replied with a reassuring smile as she waved her off.
