Then, Alex told Thomas what Demi had said earlier. After hearing about it, Thomas was slightly stunned. Then, he felt ashamed.
"Back then, Annie was so fragile and sensitive that she would cry for no reason. She even said she would end her own life, so we didn't dare to be nice to Demi at all."
With that thought in mind, he suddenly felt frustrated. "This is too much! If only Annie hadn't been that sensitive, our family could've gotten along without any problems! Having one more sister doesn't matter to us. In fact, it could've been great too.
"I think Demi is still upset at us for not treating her like family after bringing her back. If we can do that, she'll be happy. Then, all the problems will be solved."
Alex stopped checking his face and asked, "Well, what can we do when Annie minds the situation that much?"
"How frustrating!" Thomas couldn't help exclaiming again.
"Alright. Let's head to the hospital now. I need to see a doctor for the wounds. Otherwise, it'll be bad if there's a scar," Alex said while feeling frustrated too.
…
After they drove for a while, Alex stopped the car. After thinking for a moment, he turned the car around in frustration.
"What's wrong?" Thomas asked in confusion.
"When I went into the house earlier, there was a middle-aged man, and he heard what we were talking about. I'm worried he might tell someone else about what happened. So, we're heading back to wait for him. When he comes out, we'll talk to him. We'll have to shut him up no matter what!" said Alex.
"How could you talk about these things when someone else was around?" Thomas frowned immediately, thinking why Alex was so unreliable.
"I was about to leave, but Demi stopped me. She wanted to talk there and then. Demi even said I couldn't talk to her again if I left. I hesitated for a while and said nothing. Then, I offered to buy her a meal," Alex explained.
"At that moment, I couldn't leave, but I couldn't stay either. I was worried that we wouldn't be able to fix things anymore if I left. You had no idea how she was back there."
Alex felt extremely aggrieved. After all, Michelle, Harold, and Thomas were the ones who caused the trouble. However, Alex was the one who had to clean up the mess. Not only was he beaten up for it, but Thomas was still blaming him for everything.
