A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 155

Alex was confused as he looked at everyone in a daze. He didn't understand what was going on at all.

"Let's talk about it after we're done eating," said Michelle. She didn't want to ruin her appetite at that moment.

After they were done eating, she gave Alex a basic rundown about what had happened. Of course, she emphasized how she instinctively closed the door and didn't do it on purpose.

"That's not the problem. Whether you did it on purpose or not, shouldn't you have noticed someone was missing?" Alex couldn't help frowning. "Why didn't any of you realize it? I'm sure you would've remembered if you left a pet in the car, wouldn't you? So, why didn't you remember an actual person?"

It didn't matter if Demi was their sister or not. Alex thought his family shouldn't have left a person behind, even if it was a total stranger.

"Stop reprimanding us. Your dad has scolded us enough times," Michelle said aggrievedly.

"Are you saying that she's ignoring you guys even after you've apologized to her?" Alex changed the topic.

"That's right." Michelle and Thomas nodded.

"That's not right. Even if you've left her behind, she still managed to escape herself… Is she really that grudgeful?" Alex couldn't help frowning again.

"Actually…" Thomas glanced at Michelle before adding the details she had left out.

"The car was distorted, and any ordinary person wouldn't have been able to open it. We checked the surveillance footage at the police station and saw how she… Demi struggled for a long time, and she was engulfed by the fire… We thought she was done for.

"Then, when we signed the contract for I Love Nature, we saw her and realized she survived. We don't know how she managed to get out in the end. However, I think she hates us so much because she almost died."

Then, he told Alex what happened on the island. "While we were on the show, I fell into the ocean. Although she gave me the cold shoulder all the time, she didn't leave me to die. Instead, she pulled me to shore. Despite that, she didn't give me acupuncture, and I've been upset about it.

"If I were in her shoes and my family left me in a burning car, I would've been extremely upset as well. So, I can understand how she feels." After saying that, Thomas lowered his gaze.

Meanwhile, Alex was stunned. "If the doors were distorted, it would've been really difficult for her to get out," he said with a deep frown.

Michelle hurriedly explained, "Not really. She's actually quite strong. You haven't seen it yet when she was on the show, but I did.

"The strength she showed in the livestream was impressive. She could even run up a mountain with more than 150 pounds of stuff. I'm sure it would've been easy for her to open the door. She just hates us for abandoning her."
