A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 144

"Well…" Demi was stunned for a split second before saying, "A doctor will always do what's necessary and nothing more. Wouldn't you agree, Dr. Finnegan?"

Then, she smiled at Seamus.

"Yes, that's true." Seamus nodded in agreement. "Basically, a doctor shouldn't seek out a patient if the patient never asked for help. First, people might think the doctor has other motives and scold the doctor for it. They might even start beating up the doctor.

"Secondly, it would be complicated if someone had to take responsibility for what happened next. It would be fine if the patient is treated. However, if the condition worsens, the doctor might be in trouble."

"I see." Sean finally understood what they meant.

"Actually, even if I suggested the idea last time, I'm sure you guys wouldn't believe me. First of all, I'm young. Secondly, Mr. West isn't an average Joe. I know you've been looking into my background recently. So, it's entirely up to you whether I have to treat him or not," she said calmly.

Hearing that, Felix and Sean instantly felt awkward.

"Nonsense! What's so special about me? If you told us your idea last time, I would've let you treat me right away," Benedict said while shaking his head.

"My apologies. We didn't investigate you on purpose. It's just that we had to take precautions because of Mr. West's unique identity," Sean said apologetically.

"I understand, and I'm not blaming you for it either. That was why I came here without hesitation when you asked for my help," she said with a sincere smile. Hearing that, Felix and Sean felt a little more ashamed.

"However, there's something I'm curious about. Did Mr. West do something to help me in secret?" Demi turned to Benedict as she asked curiously. When she was treating him earlier, she noticed their fate had become stronger than ever, and he was meant to help her in her life.

"Mr. West told someone from the Ministry of Public Security to monitor the internet so that no one would cyberbully you," Sean hurriedly answered before Benedict could say anything.

"I see." Demi nodded after realizing what had happened.
