A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 136

"That kid never told me anything, and I only learned about it from someone else. I think she was targeted by others, and the people online were scolding her and calling her a vicious gal. My neighbor said it wasn't easy to be in the entertainment industry.

"After all, she'll be bullied as long as she's poor and powerless. I'm sure she has offended some big shot, and that person is purposely bullying her! There's nothing I can do to help her at all, so I pretended to be oblivious. I didn't even dare to ask her anything because I didn't want her to worry about me instead."

As Margaret spoke, she couldn't help choking and wiping away her tears.

"Her brother and I have held her back. If she were on her own, she could've gone to school with the scholarship she had. After all, she had great grades in the past, and my wall is full of her academic awards," she said while pointing at her house.

Demi's teacher told Margaret about the scholarship in the past.

When they saw how she was crying, Benedict and the others wondered if their hunch was wrong for a moment. If she was so heartbroken for Demi, why didn't she come out of hiding to set a path for her granddaughter?

Was the trauma she suffered in the past so great that she would rather see Demi suffer than provide any help?

"Things are better now, and everyone online is praising her. So, you don't have to worry anymore," said Benedict.

"That's right." Margaret wiped her tears again before showing a faint smile. "My neighbor told me about it. They said more and more people were liking Demi, including some celebrities and the people watching the live stream.

"Apparently, it was because of how capable she was. Not only could she make a fire and cook great food, but she was also strong and helpful to everyone."

Then, her eyes started tearing up again as she choked, "At the end of the day, it was all because she had suffered a lot in the past. Back then, she would accompany me as we carried other people's belongings up the mountain just to earn a living with me."

Felix and the others were speechless when they heard that. After all, they couldn't imagine a young lady carrying heavy belongings up the mountain every day. With that thought in mind, they wondered why Margaret still wouldn't help Demi.

"Mrs. Moone, Mr. West really likes Demi. He even called the Ministry of Public Security himself and told them to keep an eye on the internet. That way, no one would dare to attack Demi," Seamus said with a chuckle.
