Year Five: The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 99

The bride price and dowry had already been discussed, and now Silvia and Kent lounged together on the couch, watching TV.

As always, the show playing was one of Silvia’s favorites—a lighthearted reality competition she never failed to find hilarious. Her laughter, bright and melodic, bubbled up every now and then, filling the living room with warmth and ease.

The atmosphere grew increasingly relaxed. Kent’s gaze drifted over Silvia’s face; watching her, the faintest smile deepened in his sharp, dark eyes.

He didn’t say much, just quietly peeled fruit for Silvia, placing each piece on a plate within easy reach so she’d have something to snack on.

It wasn’t until late into the night that Silvia finally felt the tug of sleep. Rubbing her eyes, she announced, “Mr. Parsons, I’m heading to bed.”

Kent nodded. “Alright. Goodnight.”

He didn’t ask any questions, but his eyes lingered on Silvia’s retreating figure as she disappeared down the hallway to the guest room.

He lowered his gaze, a hint of amusement curving his lips.

There was no rush. They had a lifetime ahead of them.

The next morning, Silvia woke to find Kent had already left for the office.

But he hadn’t forgotten her. Breakfast waited on the table, a simple but nourishing spread, with a handwritten note tucked beneath the plate. The bold, confident script read: Remember to eat breakfast—it’s good for your stomach.

Silvia couldn’t help but smile. That was Kent through and through—thoughtful, unfailingly polite.

After finishing her meal, Silvia didn’t idle away the morning. Instead, she called Johnny and put him on speaker.
