Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 232

Not only was she starting her own business, she also had to outwit Shipley at every turn.

If that bread really did make someone sick, it would be another huge headache for Silvia.

Seeing her colleague, who could barely take care of herself, still trying to comfort her, Silvia felt a faint warmth stir in her chest.

She glanced at her, the corners of her lips lifting in a small smile. After a moment, Silvia said softly, “Don’t worry about me. I’m fine.”

She didn’t let her colleagues hang around the hospital room any longer. Instead, Silvia found a nurse to look after her female coworker, and once the woman drifted off to sleep, Silvia left the room.

Just then, her phone buzzed. The hospital doctor was calling. “Miss Ashford, would you please come down to the lab? The results are in.”

“Of course,” Silvia replied.

She strode quickly toward the lab.

When she entered, the doctor was bent over the test results. Noticing her, he waved her over. “Miss Ashford, take a look at this report. It’s clear—the sample you brought in contains traces of pesticide. The amount isn’t high, though. As long as the person who ingested it gets prompt treatment, there shouldn’t be any lasting issues.”

Silvia took the report, scanning the page. A mocking curve tugged at her lips.

She had to admit—whoever orchestrated this was clever.

By adding only a small amount of pesticide to the bread, they ensured that even if someone ate it, no one would die. And if help came quickly, there’d be no aftereffects at all.

That was exactly what the culprit was counting on—someone bold enough to take that risk.

The thought darkened Silvia’s expression.
