Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 231

“Let’s just wait for the results.”

Silvia didn’t bother denying her coworkers’ suspicions, nor did she leave right away. Instead, she joined them in the hallway, waiting in silence outside the hospital room.

Most of them had come from Luminova City, and now, here in the capital, they had no family or friends to lean on. All they had was each other.

Silvia couldn’t bear the thought of their colleague facing this alone. She knew all too well what it felt like to be by yourself in a hospital.

When it was clear Silvia wasn’t going to be talked out of staying, the others fell silent and waited with her.

It was quite a while before their coworker finally emerged from anesthesia, wheeled out by a pair of nurses.

Her gaze was weak and unfocused, but as soon as she opened her eyes and saw everyone standing around her bed, her eyes filled with tears and she broke down, sobbing.

“I never thought... you’d all be here with me,” she choked out, her voice trembling with emotion. She bit her lip, struggling to compose herself. “Thank you. I really don’t know what to say.”

She didn’t understand how she’d suddenly ended up in so much pain, but waking up to see them waiting there for her—like family—filled her with gratitude.

Seeing her cry so hard, Silvia grabbed a tissue and gently dabbed the tears from her cheeks.

Smiling softly, she tried to reassure her. “You had a bout of food poisoning, but don’t worry. They’ve already flushed your stomach—you’ll be fine.”

Food poisoning?

Her coworker nodded, but confusion flickered in her eyes. “Did the doctor say what caused it? I’m usually careful about what I eat.”
