Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 212

“Since you already seem to know what I want to say, why don’t you just tell me what you’re thinking?” Laurinda’s eyes narrowed with a hint of expectation, as if she was genuinely curious about Silvia’s answer. She continued, “You know, Silvia, I’m not exactly a patient woman. I’ve come to see you several times now, and I’m running out of patience.”

Silvia lowered her eyes, her gaze drifting to the lavish spread of food in front of her. All these fancy dishes—what a farce.

Let’s be honest, this was nothing but an ambush disguised as a dinner.

Why Laurinda was so eager to get her hands on the engagement gifts, Silvia had no idea. But she wasn’t naïve; she understood perfectly well that she couldn’t just hand them over.

With that, Silvia’s lips curved into a faint, knowing smile. “May I ask, Aunt Laurinda, why you’re so determined to help me ‘look after’ the engagement gifts?”

She didn’t say “take away”—instead, she played along with Laurinda’s wording, calling it “looking after.” The atmosphere stayed civil, at least for the moment.

Laurinda let out a short, amused laugh, studying Silvia’s expression carefully.

This young woman looked delicate, but Laurinda knew she was hardly easy prey.

Laurinda didn’t care much for her niece personally; the only reason she kept coming back was for those gifts.

Her thoughts drifted to Kent, her dear nephew.

Feeling Silvia’s eyes still on her, Laurinda snapped out of her reverie and smiled, turning her attention back to the conversation. “Silvia, I told you last time—you’re still young. Some of those shops included in your engagement gifts are simply too much for you to manage right now. Let me hold onto them for you. Once you’ve started your own business, gained some experience, I’ll hand them back.”

She spoke with such conviction, as if she truly believed every word.
