Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 215

“Husband?”

Kent silently mulled over Silvia’s choice of words, a faint, inscrutable smile tugging at his lips.

His sharp eyes narrowed, icy as they landed on Shipley.

Seeing the shock and devastation flicker across Shipley’s face, Kent found himself oddly satisfied.

“Yes, I’ll get it for you.”

But that didn’t seem to be enough for him. He added, voice laced with contempt, “Some people are just filthy. Even the things they’ve touched are tainted.”

“What did you say?” Shipley snapped, instantly realizing Kent was mocking him. His composure shattered.

He stared Kent down, eyes growing more and more unnerved.

Husband...

Even after all those years with Silvia, not once had she ever called him that.

Why Kent? Why now?

Shipley knew Silvia. She wasn’t the type to throw out such an intimate word so carelessly.

Was it possible? Had they really gotten married?

No.

No, that couldn’t be!

The doubt he’d tried so hard to bury clawed its way back to the surface.

He stared at the two of them, disbelief twisting his features into something almost desperate.

After a long, tense silence, Shipley finally drew a shaky breath and spoke. “Silvia, you can’t just call any man your husband. That’s not right—I don’t like it.”

“Whether you like it or not is none of my concern,” Silvia replied flatly, her tone cool and matter-of-fact. “We’re married. If I’m not calling him my husband, should I call you that instead?”
