Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 210

The others, truth be told, didn’t really know Shipley all that well.

Or rather, even Silvia herself no longer understood Shipley.

But there was one thing she was certain of: if she moved out and Shipley managed to find a vacant office near her company’s new address, he’d definitely move right back in.

Besides, she had nothing to feel guilty about—why should she be the one to give in first?

If anyone should leave, it was Shipley.

Seeing that Silvia had made up her mind, Finn stopped trying to persuade her.

After hanging up, Silvia finished getting ready and headed downstairs for work.

Just as she stepped out onto the street, she spotted a familiar sports car parked by the curb.

Standing beside it, as always, was a woman dressed in impeccable, eye-catching fashion. She wore sunglasses and leaned casually against the car door. When she saw Silvia, she slid off her shades, lips curving into a sly, flirtatious smile.

“Well, sweet Silvia,” Laurinda Parsons purred, her crimson lipstick accentuating the mischief in her tone, “you turned your aunt down before. What excuse have you got for me today?”

Silvia met Laurinda’s gaze, her brows knitting almost imperceptibly.

She never felt at ease around Laurinda; the woman had a way of making her uncomfortable, and Silvia would have preferred to avoid her altogether.

But Laurinda always managed to track her down. There was no escaping it.

Still, Laurinda was Kent’s aunt—a figure she couldn’t just ignore. Silvia lowered her eyes for a moment, then forced a polite smile as she looked back up. “Aunt Laurinda, you really should’ve called first! If I’d known you were dropping by, I’d have taken the day off and shown you around the city.”

Her words were smooth, drawing a quick laugh from Laurinda.

Laurinda narrowed her eyes, watching Silvia with an amused, almost predatory glint. After a beat, she said, “Silvia, you’re not very good at lying, you know. You clearly don’t want to see me, but you still pretend you’d like to keep me company. I don’t appreciate that.”
