Still, the prospect of signing a settlement and walking away didn’t interest Silvia in the slightest.
Suddenly, the man across from her jerked his head up. Strands of messy hair hung over his forehead, and his bloodshot eyes locked onto Silvia with a wild, unblinking intensity.
Bang.
Abruptly, he shot to his feet, gripping the back of his chair with both hands. He lifted it high above his head, his whole posture radiating the threat of violence.
Grady screamed, his voice raw and shrill, “I’ll kill you! Die! Just die already—!”
His face contorted with rage, twisted and almost monstrous. Silvia stared at his features, a strange sense of familiarity nagging at her—she was sure she’d seen him somewhere before.
A moment later, it hit her.
Grady. Amy…
Could there be a connection between them?
The possibility made Silvia’s eyes flicker with realization. She instinctively took a step back, trying to put some space between herself and Grady.
But Grady was a grown man. Wielding a chair like a weapon, it would be all too easy for him to land a blow.
Realizing there was nowhere to dodge in the cramped interrogation room, Silvia’s brows knit. The instant Grady glanced away, she seized her chance and darted out the door.
Out in the hallway, she pressed her back to the wall, her eyes cool and steady as she looked at him. Her voice was low but clear. “Amy—is she your sister?”
