“Alright, alright.”
“I'll talk to him later.”
After hanging up, Patricia smiled apologetically at Luther. “Sorry about that, it took a little while. Are we heading back to campus now?”
Luther's attitude was even gentler than before.
But Patricia didn't connect it to her family background.
They had just had such a good time; she assumed it was because her relationship with Luther was progressing.
“We can if you want to.”
“But I'd like to spend a little more time with you, if you're willing to stay?”
It was really hard for Patricia to refuse when a guy made a request like that.
Especially when he looked at her with those puppy-dog eyes. Patricia felt her heart skip a beat and found herself unable to say anything but yes, nodding in agreement.
Luther smiled at Patricia, and the two of them went to the famous Lover's Lake.
Patricia usually disliked these kinds of pointless 'date activities,' but Luther was great at setting the mood. Despite the swarms of mosquitoes and the occasional screaming child running past, the atmosphere between them grew increasingly intimate.
Patricia's heart was fluttering like crazy. She had a feeling that the boy beside her was deeply in love with her, and she was starting to develop feelings for him too.
Luther noticed the change in Patricia's expression. He stopped in the middle of the path by the lake and asked her, “I've actually wanted to ask you for a while... is there someone you like?”
Patricia's heart skipped a beat.
She hadn't expected Luther to be so direct and just ask her outright.
“Um... no...” Patricia didn't want to come off as a rookie, but she didn't want to lie about something like this either.
She believed that if she was going to have a boyfriend, it had to be someone she truly liked.
So she wasn't willing to lie.
To love someone, you have to accept everything about them. Patricia would be even happier if they were each other's first love.
“I didn't either, before.”
Luther's words made Patricia's heart sink.
“Before?”
