"I know the deadline is tight and the workload is heavy, but surely you have time to eat?"
While devouring the food, one of them said, "Ah, we forgot. The boss completely exhausted himself. How could we dare to slack off?"
Naomi froze. "Who exhausted himself?"
Steven said, "The boss. He went straight to the hospital this morning. I heard he has a high fever."
Naomi frowned.
Didn't Patricia say Lennon drove them back last night? That's why Naomi had come in early, planning to thank him.
She never expected Lennon would be in the hospital.
"Is it serious? Which hospital is he in?"
Steven handed her a sticky note.
"We were planning to visit him after we finished, but we're all about to pass out. Naomi, could you go see him on our behalf?"
Naomi was a bit dazed. "Me? Go visit him for everyone?"
"We really can't go."
Jacob struggled to keep his eyes open. "Look at me, I desperately need some sleep. Naomi, please, just go for us."
Naomi found it hard to refuse, and she did want to see how Lennon was doing, so she nodded.
Once Naomi was gone, the group's exhausted demeanor vanished.
"Alright, alright, everyone go home and get some rest."
In truth, the testing was already done. But when they heard Lennon was hospitalized, they decided to feign exhaustion to give Naomi a reason to visit him.
As they were packing up, Jacob suddenly felt something was off. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "Hey, we could've just told Naomi all that over the phone, right? So why did we actually pull an all-nighter at the studio?"
A heavy silence fell over the room.
Everyone seemed to realize that the all-nighter had fried their brains. They silently packed their things and left.
