When Family Became a Place I Couldn’t Return To novel Chapter 47

Jonah looked effortlessly handsome in his custom suit, the warm lights from the private room catching on him and making him shine. Gina couldn’t take her eyes off him. She never imagined Nelly would have this much luck. Brody was already dangerously attractive, and now Jonah had shown up too. He was the kind of man you could fall for at first sight and never get over.

When Jonah walked in, Nelly stood up and stretched her arms a little. She still wasn’t used to being so polished and elegant.

“Nelly, I can’t believe you’re the Watson family heiress. Looks like my business will be counting on you from now on,” Gina said, her smile practically glowing.

Gina was a master at creating buzz and making people look good. She had connections everywhere in the entertainment world. When Nelly asked her earlier that morning to help hype up her appearance at the exhibition, Gina had been a little confused. She thought maybe Nelly just wanted to ride the wave of someone else’s fame.

It wasn’t until Jonah walked in that Gina realized the truth. The real heiress of the Watson family had been right in front of her all along.

“Thank you, Gina. I’ll definitely need your help again,” Nelly said, keeping things polite.

Gina had good instincts. She sensed Jonah and Nelly needed to talk, so she excused herself without fuss. Her seat was nearby, and she told Nelly to call her if she needed anything.

Once they were alone, Jonah looked at Nelly and spoke softly. “You look... really beautiful tonight.”

He didn’t stare at her for long, though. Nelly’s dress was especially eye-catching, hugging her curves and leaving her back almost completely bare. When she set down her fox fur, her pale arms and legs stood out even more.
