Britney stared at the man, puzzled, until Jonah finally spoke up. “Sir, this is Mr. Brody Garland, CEO of Garland Inc.”
He paused, glancing quickly at Nelly, and lowered his voice. “He’s also your grandson-in-law.”
Felix’s face didn’t change at all. It was like none of this surprised him.
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
Nelly could hardly believe Brody had shown up. She turned and walked toward him, closing the gap between them.
When they stood together, they really did look stunning. It was almost impossible not to notice how perfect they seemed as a couple.
Jonah looked away, almost automatically, and stepped back to stand next to Felix.
Felix gave Jonah a quick look, the faintest hint of a smirk in his eyes.
“So you really are the Watson family heiress,” Brody said quietly, his gaze locked on Nelly. “You kept that from me all this time. Were you worried I’d want a slice of your massive inheritance?”
“You know everything now?” Nelly asked, her voice tense.
“I do. And honestly, I wouldn’t mind a share.”
Nelly put it all together in a heartbeat. This had to be Jonah’s doing. He must’ve gone to Brody for help. It was obvious he was trying to get her out of this mess.
But that wasn’t what she wanted. “This is my problem. I don’t need your help. I’m going to get that divorce, even if I have to give up the inheritance. Don’t even think about getting the Watson family’s money.”
“I’m not after the Watson family’s money,” Brody said, a chill in his smile. “But I don’t min you thinking about the Garland family’s money.”
He slipped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her close and murmured something in her ear.
