When Family Became a Place I Couldn’t Return To novel Chapter 342

Nelly set her glass down and strode straight toward Brody. He was just about to hand his business card to a woman dressed in elegant designer clothes, but the moment he spotted Nelly, he paused. Everyone else noticed her too, and started greeting her one after another.

Nancy was right on Nelly’s heels. She jumped in first, showering compliments on the women’s outfits, steering the conversation away with practiced ease. Nelly shot Brody a look, and without saying a word, pulled him from the group.

They didn’t stop until they were in the car, doors shut behind them. Only then did Nelly finally break the silence, her voice cold and steady.

“Brody, this is my territory. It’s got nothing to do with you. After the divorce, I’m sure neither of us wants to get tangled up in business together, or end up in the same mess as before, right?”

Her red lips pressed together, sending him a warning that was impossible to miss. If Brody tried to worm his way into her business world, she knew it would be a nightmare.

Brody let out a quiet chuckle, his tone icy and calm. “I’m just a guest here. There’s no reason we can’t work together. I’ve always been interested in the Watson family’s business.”

Nelly’s patience snapped. “You may be interested in the Watsons, but I have absolutely no interest in Garland Inc.”

Brody didn’t skip a beat. “It’s fine if you’re not interested. Ms. Watson might be. Never needs investors, doesn’t it? Garland factories are the best in Westhaven. This could be a win-win.”

Nelly didn’t hesitate. “Sorry, but it doesn’t matter how strong Garland Inc. is in Westhaven. Never will never partner with you.”

Brody quickly fired back. “I said Ms. Watson. Are you saying you’re actually the owner of never?”

His voice dropped, as if he had just caught the scent of an incredible secret.

He locked eyes with Nelly. Under his intense gaze, a flush crept onto her cheeks and she looked away. "What are you talking about?"
