When Family Became a Place I Couldn’t Return To novel Chapter 333

Rudy let out a quiet sigh and turned away, rubbing his temples. “Nancy, don’t look at me like that. I really didn’t have a choice.” His voice was cool, tinged with frustration.

“Rudy, you’re so despicable!” Nancy snapped back. To her, he was just pretending to be the victim. She’d betrayed him twice now, and she already knew what he was capable of. There was no way he’d just let it go. But even so, she never expected him to actually go this far and kidnap her.

“Whatever. In your eyes, nobody could ever compare to Jonah,” Rudy muttered, bitterness creeping into his words. He let out a low, annoyed snort and crouched down, meeting her gaze. Her cheeks were flushed, but all he could see was the pure hatred in her eyes.

“You’re right. You’ll never be Jonah. He’s not nearly as disgusting as you,” Nancy threw back at him, her voice sharp and cold. She knew exactly what to say to hurt him, and she didn’t hold back. They’d been together for years, and maybe she still had some lingering rapport for him, but after what he’d done, she realized he’d stop at nothing.

“Maybe,” Rudy replied, his eyes turning icy as the last bit of amusement left his face. He pulled a chair over and sat across from her, checking his watch. “The sun’s almost down. The sunset here is pretty amazing. We could watch it together.”

“Rudy, just let me go! If anyone finds out about this, you’re done for!” Nancy shouted, her voice echoing off the walls. She was still a Watson. If Michael learned what Rudy had done, the Chandlers would never hear the end of it.

Rudy pressed a finger to his lips, signaling her to keep quiet. “There’s no point yelling. We’re not even in the country. Nobody here understands a word you’re saying,” he said, raising his eyebrows. “And… how do you know I was the one who took you?”
