Cracking the hidden partition required a password, and Felix kept it locked away in the company safe he checked every single day.
Jonah promised he’d find a way to get that password. While he was working on it, he made sure Nancy would be safe by arranging for her to study abroad, far away from all this chaos. As soon as he got his hands on the evidence, he swore he’d send it straight to her.
“What about you? If I release the evidence, Felix will figure out it was you who helped me… He’ll never let you go,” Nancy said, her gaze lingering on Jonah, her eyes full of worry and longing.
“I’ll be alright,” Jonah replied softly.
“Then I’m not leaving either.”
“I promised you, Nancy. I’ll keep my word. You have to trust me.”
“I do trust you. It’s just… I don’t want to go anywhere without you.” Nancy’s feelings for Jonah spilled over. The thought of being apart from him was more than she could bear. Even if it meant giving up on revenge, she just wanted to stay by his side.
“I can’t leave,” Jonah said, looking down. His voice was so low it barely reached her, heavy and sinking into silence.
Nancy should have realized it then. Jonah never really wanted to leave the Watson family. But her feelings for him had already gone way beyond what she could handle.

Jonah’s plan was solid, but life had other ideas. The night he was supposed to help Nancy leave the country, Felix suddenly left on a business trip. He asked Jonah to pick up some documents from his office. The papers were locked in a drawer, and the key was in the safe. Felix handed Jonah the combination without a second thought.
But while Jonah got the call, Nancy overheard everything. She hadn’t really planned on leaving. Instead, she slipped back home quietly. When she heard Jonah’s conversation, she made up her mind—she was going to get the evidence herself. She couldn’t stand the idea of Jonah risking everything for her.
Nancy thought, maybe a little too hopefully, that if she got the evidence first, Jonah would finally be free. They could walk away together, leave all of this behind.
