When Family Became a Place I Couldn’t Return To novel Chapter 219

Nelly jumped to her feet and clapped her hands, instantly pulling everyone’s focus back to her. She raised her handbag high above her head and shouted, “Tonight, drinks are on me. Everyone gets a round!” The whole place exploded with cheers and applause. She had everyone’s attention now, and she knew it. After making her announcement, she booked the most expensive VIP room and started spending like there was no tomorrow. She ordered a champagne tower with only the best champagne, fruit platters piled high, and… every single famous male escort in the place.

Within minutes, at least a dozen ridiculously good-looking guys had filtered into her room. Each one tried his luck with her but barely got a few words in before she waved him away. Nelly stretched out across the sofa, looking dramatically bored. “You all worried I can’t pay? Is this really the best you’ve got? No one here is even hotter?”

The manager standing nearby grinned nervously. “You’re joking, right? All our best-looking guys are in here with you.”

Nelly had basically poached every server in the club. The whole place was practically working for her alone. She glanced at the manager, her eyes sparkling. “Really?”

She reached for her glass, and one of the guys jumped up to hand it to her, even kneeling to bring it right to her lips. It felt a little weird, but she forced herself to go with it. After a sip, another guy offered her a fruit platter, feeding her a piece of melon with a fork. The fruit was sweet and cold, and for a second, Nelly felt like she was living in a fantasy. This was the kind of pampered, over-the-top life she’d only read about in romance novels, and here she was, actually living it.

Still, Brody and Jonah had totally ruined her standards. No matter how many handsome faces were in this room, none of them made her heart skip a beat.

It wasn’t long before Nelly started to feel overwhelmed. These men were pros. One took her hand and started reading her palm, another used some flirty game as an excuse to lean closer, and another guy, pretending to be tipsy, whispered secrets then nearly fell into her lap. Someone else put on a striptease, showing off his abs.

It hit her all at once that maybe this wasn’t the vibe she was after. Barely half an hour had passed, and she was already ready to tap out.
