Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 615

“He knew you wouldn’t just leave him, that you’d try to help. That’s exactly why he left,” Jordan said, letting out a tired sigh.

Madeline’s chest tightened, her heart heavy. “Jordan, is it really impossible for you to make an antidote?”

He nodded. “I can make one, but it’s not that simple. I need time... time to develop it, mix everything, test it out. Three days just isn’t enough.”

“So, what you’re saying is... if he doesn’t get an antidote, he’s only got three days left?” Madeline’s voice was barely above a whisper.

“That’s right,” Jordan replied, his tone gentle but firm.

Madeline felt like she was sinking, some invisible weight dragging her down.

She stood there in silence for a moment, gathering herself. Finally, she drew a shaky breath. “Alright. I understand. Thank you, Jordan. I... I need to go now.”

She didn’t wait for an answer. As she rushed out, Madeline called Luke’s number. She was still inside when a phone started ringing in the living room, sharp and unexpected. Her heart lurched, and she spun around, hope flickering for just a second.

Maybe, she thought, maybe Jordan was lying and Luke never really left. Maybe if she turned around fast enough, she’d see him there.

But all she saw was Luke’s phone lying on the coffee table, the screen lighting up quietly.

Her heart squeezed tighter. She had bought him that phone. He hadn’t even bothered to take it with him. That was his way of telling her not to look for him.

Disappointment washed over her, sharp and deep.

Jordan shook his head, helplessness written all over his tired face.

Madeline clutched her phone tighter, remembering the anonymous text from earlier. The words still echoed: If you don’t want to watch him die from the poison, come find me yourself. Don’t tell anyone else, or I’ll take him with me. Don’t bother trying to make an antidote. You’ve got three days. That’s not enough.

She didn’t have to wonder who had sent it. Only Claire could be that cruel.
