Chapter 250
LYRIC
I threw my head back, utterly hopeless.
“Say something, Lyric! Is there a reason you’ll not want him here!?”
“No!” My tone matched his. “I don’t want to be here, Jaris. It’s you who should let me go!”
Damn it, things were already complicated for me! I was constantly getting hurt for his sake, and he didn’t even know it!
It was my fault. It was all my fault.
The door opened behind me with Caden’s strong fragrance hitting me before my eyes took a look.
I’d been hoping that by some miracle, I’d be able to make it back to the Pack without him knowing what transpired. How unfortunate.
He stopped behind me, some inches away. I dragged my teeth into my lower lip as horrific images filled my head. He was going to kill me tonight.
“Why does she still have the chains on?” He rasped. He was so fucking pissed.
“She’s still a threat in my Pack. You should understand that threats are not allowed to roam freely.”
He snapped his fingers, and in seconds, the chains were unlocked by a guard.
The relief felt like paradise. I rubbed my hands, thankful I could finally move them again. But terror walked right in when I remembered Caden was still behind me and was the reason I was fred.
I remained still, not having the balls to face him.
“It was nice doing business with you, Cade. Didn’t think you’d be willing to give up so much for someone like her,” Jaris‘ words licked at healing wounds.
So, he did ‘sell‘ me to Caden. I couldn’t believe I ended up a bargaining chip.
Caden said nothing. He was too mad.
I heard his approaching footsteps before he grabbed my hand. I shuddered from the mere contact.
“Let’s go.”
I forced my legs to move towards the door with him. Deep in my heart, I silently cried for some sort of help from Jaris. But how could he when he was the unfeeling man I made him to be?
Caden seemed to control his shit just fine. Until we reached the car and he roughly shoved me in.
“Caden, wait-”
“You stupid whore!” His hand wrapped around my neck, cutting the rest of my words off. “You really did come, didn’t you? He said you would, and you did!”
I couldn’t defend myself; couldn’t even beg him to stop.
He released me when I was almost unable to breathe anymore.
“Do you have any idea what I had to give up to get you back!?” He continued yelling while I wheezed and tried to catch my breath. “You’ve fucking cost me! How can you be so ungrateful!?!”

I squeezed myself towards the end of the car, wishing it could somehow swallow me up. The driver and guard in the front seat didn’t pay any attention to us as they got the car moving.
“I gave you my heart, Lyric! Fuck, I’m ready to give you the whole word! And all you have to do is love me the same way I do! Yet you’d rather lust over my
brother!? What is it about him? Huh?”
I shuddered in my seat, weeping profusely. I didn’t try to defend myself ‘cause I knew it was pointless.
For tonight, my fate was doomed.
My heels clicked against the floor as I made my way into the private diner. It wasn’t exactly private; I just booked the room because I needed some
privacy.
Ericka was already waiting at the table, eating from one of the numerous things she ordered.
“I see you kept yourself busy,” I said in a detached tone, sitting across from her.
“Well, you kept me waiting. Besides, I’m sure this is little change considering who you are now.”
I dropped my bag on the table, feeling hurt by the usual perception that I was enjoying luxury with Caden.
I folded my hands and watched her eat. She knew this was serious business. So, she could go ahead and start talking when she was ready.
She drank a full glass of juice, and when she wiped her hands with a serviette, I knew she was done.
“Okay. It’s a good thing you came.” She dumped the serviette. “Forget the fact I’m eating. What I’m about to say is no good news at all.”
I’d been curious since two days ago when she told me we needed to have a physical meeting.
When Caden had been ‘through‘ with me that day, I called her as soon as I could to finish our conversation on the antidote. That was when she asked to
meet with me.
“Let’s start with the fact that Jaris had a fated mate.”
My brows furrowed. “How are you sure about this? There’s no record of-”
“A lot of people don’t know about this because they never got to bond. Her name was Greta. She was a sweet soul who worked in a bookstore. It came as a shock when she discovered she and Jaris were mated. Jaris, at this time, didn’t really care. It was during this period he and Caden had a fallout due to
their beast issues.
“As you know, they’re Alpha Feeders. Feeders are greatly avoided and if the people knew this fact about Jaris and his brother, they never would’ve let either of them take over leadership from their father. Jaris and Caden were meant to keep this a secret. Unfortunately, Caden got out of hand. He developed an untamable beast with insane bloodthirst. People were beginning to suspect he was a Feeder. He was putting the entire family and throne in jeopardy, not to mention the lives he was constantly taking.

“Jaris needed to put him down, but he couldn’t kill his brother. So, one day, Greta gave him a solution in a tube. Her blood.”
Realization dawned on me. “She was a Siphon.”
“She was,” Ericka nodded. “She was willing to help Jaris take care of Caden. Her blood wasn’t meant to kill him; only to put him in a deep sleep where he’d age. That was the plan. And no Siphon would’ve been strong enough to pull him out of it.”
So, how was I able to Siphon him awake?
“Jaris didn’t use Greta’s blood at first. He hated the fact she was a Siphon and didn’t want to harm his brother with it. But after sometime, Greta strangely went missing. Her whereabouts were unknown and everybody just figured she ran away from the Dreadmoors‘ madness. Caden got worse, their father ended up dead, people kept dying. And eventually, he was exposed to be an Alpha Feeder. That was when Jaris used Greta’s blood to Siphon him.
