Chapter 251
Chapter 251
LYRIC
Bianca was already waiting outside her apartment for me by the time I arrived. Her face was covered with worry, her eyes watching me like a hawk as ! stepped out of my car.
“Ma’am. A–Are you alright? I was worried when you called to know if I was home.”
My hands were slightly shaking. I wondered if Bianca noticed.
“Can we just…go in?”
“Of course.”
She led me into her apartment. It was a two bedroom, comfortable enough for a single lady.
My bag dropped to the floor as I sat on the couch.
“Would you like a glass of water?”
I managed a nod. By the moon, how was I even still breathing? It felt as if there was something wrapping tight around my throat. Fuck, I really couldn’t breathe.
I grabbed the glass from Blanca when she returned, drinking every last drop. Funny how I’d gone to Ericka to get answers for Jaris and left with questions on Caden.
Why did she have to say it? Why did it have to be true?
No. It wasn’t true. It couldn’t be.
I wished I could go really far from here. All I wanted to do was scream and break free. How unfortunate that I had the contract binding me, keeping me trapped in this hellhound.
“Can I…” I took a deep breath. “Would you mind if I stayed here for tonight?” I needed to clear my head.
“Of course. I live alone.”
I dropped the empty glass on the table and buried my face in my palms. I was tired. So fucking tired.
Bianca stood leaned against the wall, her eyes watching me. “Did he hurt you again? Is that the reason you’re running?”
“No, no. It’s not what you think.”
“Then, what is it? You’re shaken, ma’am!”
Tinhaled deeply, my eyes rising to meet hers. “I’ll be fine, Bianca. I just need to clear my head.”
After a lot of persuasion, she got me to eat something, then helped me to the bathroom.
The cold water running down my head actually helped a lot.
I came out of the bathroom with a towel around my chest and met Bianca in the room, dropping off some clothes.
“I haven’t worn these before, I think they should be your size.”

Chapter 251
I managed a smile. “Thanks, dear.”
I honestly wouldn’t know what to do if Bianca wasn’t here. I had contemplated going to a hotel, but Caden had eyes everywhere around here and would’ve definitely caught me. Bianca was the only friend I had.
She headed for the door while I picked the clothes to her and in the process, turned my back against her. I startled when I heard a loud sudden pasp
“By the moon!”
I whipped around to find her looking like she’d seen a ghost. Her eyes were wide, her hand up to her mouth.
“Bianca-”
“What did he do to you!?”
I froze, the realization hitting me at once.
Oh, Lyric. How the hell did I forget!?
Two days ago when Caden took me from the Capital, well, let’s just say the night didn’t go well for me and he left enough evidence on my back.
I wasn’t used to and totally forgot to hide it from Bianca.
Her eyes shun with tears as she scurried toward me, going around to stand behind.
“What kind of a monster does this to someone? How could he!?”
“It’s fine, Bianca. It’ll heal up.”
“It doesn’t matter if it does. It doesn’t change the fact that he hurt you!”
I hated how pathetic I felt.
Drawing in a long breath, I faced her. The tears on her face broke me completely.
“How can you still be with this man? No deal should be more important than your life.”
Oh, Bianca. But that was the point. The deal was my life.
“I didn’t mean for you to see this,” I forced steel into my voice. “Maybe someday, you’ll understand why this happened. But for now, I could really use
some rest.”
I proceeded to dress up, ignoring her presence until she left the room.
Bianca didn’t speak freely with me for the rest of the day. She wasn’t mad at me; she was just hurt about everything and believed I was enduring things I
didn’t have to.
It was quite unfortunate she didn’t understand. Nobody did.
I’d turned my phone off before coming to her place. I had no doubt Caden was looking for me and would definitely be mad when he laid eyes on me.
For today, I didn’t care. The mere thought of being with him terrified him.
I spent most of my night turning restlessly in bed, Ericka’s words haunting my dreams.
Bianca had breakfast already prepared by the time I woke up, but I had to eat alone as she told me she needed to check on her grandmother who was
sick.

Chapter 251
JARIS
“Are you sure it’s her?” I questioned Kael as we headed toward the guest office.
“Yes. I’m just as surprised. Nerion and I could take care of her if you don’t feel like it.”
She wasn’t just someone from Caden’s territory; she was Lyric’s assistant. No. I wanted this one myself.
She had a lot of balls coming here alone, demanding to see me.
She sprang from her feet when we entered, her head dipping clumsily.
