Chapter 427
Lylah’s POV
Night had fully descended beyond the towering windows of our penthouse, draping Lunaris in silver and shadow while moonlight poured across the living room like liquid silk.
I sat curled against the couch with my laptop open across my knees, sorting through research notes while the quiet crackle of the fireplace filled the air between us.
Ezra was beside me.
As always.
He seemed calmer whenever I was within reach.
I glanced toward him over the rim of my screen.
‘It’s been a few days since we heard anything from Blackfang,” I said. “Did Damon send word? How are he and Tiara doing?”
Ezra leaned back against the sofa, one arm stretched lazily along the backrest behind me.
‘I checked on him yesterday, I asked whether Tiara’s family accepted him properly. He said everything’s ine.”
A faint smirk tugged at Ezra’s mouth, though there was exasperation beneath it.
‘I don’t contact him too often right now,” he continued. “Every time I do, he starts apologizing because he can’t fulfill his duties the way he used to.” His eyes narrowed slightly. “He’s stupid. He has a mate now,” Ezra muttered. “And a pup on the way. That should be his priority, not work.”
Warmth bloomed quietly inside my chest at the conviction in his voice.
My phone suddenly vibrated against the table.
Tiara’s name flashed across the screen.
‘Oh-Tiara’s calling!” I glanced at Ezra before answering and switching the call to speaker.
‘How are things going over there?” I asked lightly.
The moment the line connected, Tiara released a loud, dramatic groan that echoed through the entire room.
“Bad,” she declared instantly.
My heart dropped. “What happened?”
“Lylah, how could she do this?” She sounded personally betrayed by the moon itself. “She’s pregnant too. And now her pup and mine will be around the same age. I absolutely refuse to accept that.”
