Chapter 433
3rd Person’s POV
The news had already swallowed Lunaris whole.
Finished
Massive digital billboards blazed across the city, flooding the midnight streets with cold silver light. One of them towered directly across from Rowan and Cora’s apartment building, its enormous screen flickering against the dark sky like a judgment cast by the Moon Goddess herself.
Azrel brought Rowan there.
And now the Alpha of Blackfang stood motionless beneath the glowing billboard, his jaw tight enough to crack bone.
On the screen, Commander Ivar of Whitepine appeared before the public with the same terrifying composure that once earned him the title War God of Verdanth.
Ivar never involved himself in politics after his retirement. Never issued explanations. Never lowered himself to public disputes.
Yet there he stood.
And the fury rolling beneath his aged eyes was unmistakable.
“I came forward tonight to end the lies attached to my name once and for all.” His voice echoed across the sleeping city, deep and iron-heavy.
“Coraline of Ironcrest is not the daughter of my late student Jax Stillward. She manipulated my trust and deceived me for years.”
The air around Rowan seemed to freeze.
“From this night forward, neither Ironcrest nor Blackfang will ever again stand beneath my name, my protection, or my goodwill. They no longer exist to me.”
Every word landed like a blade.
Behind Rowan, Cora’s hand flew to her mouth.
Rowan slowly turned toward her.
The silver glow from the billboard carved harsh shadows across his face, making him look less like a man and more like a predator moments away from tearing flesh apart.
“What,” he asked quietly, “is that?”
Cora’s pulse thundered wildly.
“I-I don’t know-”
“You don’t know?” Rowan’s hand slammed around her shoulder hard enough to make her stumble.

“Commander Ivar publicly denounced you, and you don’t know?”
Cora flinched.

“That wasn’t political anger,” Rowan growled. “That was disgust, Cora. Disgust!” His eyes darkened into something lethal. “He looked at you like you were filth.”
The bond between them pulsed sharply.
Not with affection.
With fury.
“So tell me the truth.” His voice dropped lower, rougher. “Your connection to him… was built on lies from the very beginning?”
Cora forced herself to remain upright despite the panic clawing through her chest.
Rowan laughed suddenly.
But there was nothing sane in the sound.
“And this comes out after our mating ceremony?” he snarled. “After I bound myself to you?” His aura cracked violently outward. “Right when I needed Ivar’s support most?”
“Rowan-”
“This wasn’t a coincidence.” His grip tightened. “You wanted me tied to your lies so I would have no choice but to carry them with you.”
“No!” Cora grabbed his wrist desperately. “We’re on the same side! I’m your mate!” Her voice trembled now. “Why would I destroy us like this? Rowan, I love you!”
Love.
The word barely registered.
Not now. Not while the illusion surrounding her shattered piece by piece before his eyes.
Everything she brought him,
The prestige.
The connections.
The image.
-All of it was collapsing into rot.
And now Blackfang would bleed for it too.
The business alliances he spent years building?
