Steven glanced at me, a smirk playing on his lips.

“Zephyra, before you lost your memory, we did everything. We’ve even spent days in bed together. Are you saying it’s inappropriate for us to sleep together now, or are you afraid of what I might do to you?”

My face turned beet red as I stared at him, speechless.

Why… why did he always bring up such explosive things about the bedroom? How was I supposed to know? I had amnesia.

Days without leaving the bed? What on earth could we have been doing?

And I supposedly disliked him and was in love with someone else. I couldn’t even begin to imagine how we had fulfilled our… marital duties.

After that, Steven paid me no mind. The room was already checked out, and he wasn't about to get another one.

My choices were to share the bed with him, sleep on the floor, or sleep on the street.

He didn't care which I chose.

With a dejected look on my face, I saw that he seemed wide awake. I asked the innkeeper for an extra blanket and made a bed on the floor.

Steven shot me a sideways glance but said nothing, simply leaning back against the headboard and scrolling through his phone.

Silence fell over the room. But the seaside nights were bitterly cold. Lying on the floor, I curled into a tight ball but couldn't get warm.

I tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

Finally, the sound of footsteps echoed in the room. A large shadow fell over me, and then I was lifted into the warm, soft bed.

My eyes flew open. I stared at him in astonishment, my voice trembling. “Wh-what are you doing?”

Didn't he say I could sleep wherever I wanted? Why was he suddenly putting me in his bed?

He couldn’t possibly lack this much self-control, could he?

Steven let out a cold laugh as he wrapped the soft comforter tightly around me, creating a cocoon. His deep, chilly voice washed over me.

“Sleep like this. I can’t touch you, and you can’t touch me. If you keep tossing and turning and keeping me awake, neither of us will get any sleep tonight.”
