I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 633

He was once again the same Steven who kept me at arm's length, the one who hated me.

I bit my lip, the smile freezing on my face, my hand gripping the fork tightly. Suddenly, the delicious noodles didn't taste so good anymore.

"Okay."

Steven released my chin. His mind was clear; this had to end here. It had to stop. There could be no chance of reigniting old flames. He said coldly, "Go back to your room and stay there. Don't wander around in front of me."

"And Zephyra, I'm warning you. Stop trying to seduce me. You can't handle the consequences of provoking me."

Steven had kicked me out again.

This time, he really meant it.

I was down for a long time, truly upset.

But I understood. After all, I had caused him so much trouble, and we were divorced. It was perfectly reasonable for him not to want me around…

I took the two hundred dollars and paid back what I owed Gordon, leaving me with a hundred-dollar bill and some change.

Gordon was surprised but didn't refuse the money. He took it with a smile. "You seem a bit down, ma'am."

"Steven's just tired of me. He kicked me out again."

Gordon's eyes widened in disbelief. "Mr. Lancaster kicked you out?"

"Yeah. I guess I'm just that annoying," I said, nodding and restlessly standing on my toes. "Gordon, I know I'm a gold digger, but I don't get it. Steven is so rich. No matter how wealthy my next man is, he couldn't possibly be a better bet than the husband I was legally married to, right?"

"As a legal wife, I could have gotten half his assets. Why would I try to ruin him instead of taking his money? The logic just doesn't add up. What exactly happened between us? Can you tell me everything you know?"

"Did he… cheat on me?"

After thinking it over, the only reason a gold digger would turn on her sugar daddy, forgoing all the money, was if she had fallen in love with him and he had betrayed her.

Gordon burst out laughing, bending over with amusement.

"Ma'am, where did you hear that nonsense? I can guarantee you, Mr. Lancaster has never cheated."

I was puzzled. "Then why did I divorce him?"

I felt a wave of relief. That was good news!

I just had to hold on for two more days.

Steven didn't want me clinging to him and had warned me repeatedly. Honestly, being a cheater was worse than being a gold digger, so I felt too ashamed to keep freeloading. That evening, I bought a loaf of bread for dinner. I even grit my teeth and refused the meal Gordon brought me.

Steven was eating in the living room and heard everything, but he didn't say a word.

I looked at his expressionless face and quietly closed my door.

If I had money, I would have gotten a different room instead of being right across the hall from him. Gordon had no idea how to read his boss's mood. Why would he put me here? Was he trying to get fired?

Things could have remained peaceful, but while I was showering, two rats suddenly scurried out of the drain. One of them ran right over my foot.

In that instant, I was scared out of my wits. I let out a piercing scream and bolted from the bathroom without even grabbing a towel.

Steven's door was wide open. Before I even knew what I was doing, I had instinctively run into his room and jumped straight into his arms, clinging to him for dear life. My voice was shrill and trembling.

"Steven, there are rats in the bathroom! Huge rats, and one of them touched me… It's so scary…"
