Go Back and I Rule There novel Chapter 9

“Since you know who saved Steward, pick out a gift and have it sent to her first.” Warner coughed lightly, his gaze landing on Jason. His eyes were like deep pools of water, impossible to fathom. “In a few days, I will take Steward to thank her in person.”

The look sent a shiver down Jason’s spine. He didn’t dare meet his boss' eyes and quickly responded, “Yes, boss!”

Finding Ms. Martinez should be easy enough. Given her connection to the Yates family, she would surely have to show them some courtesy.

Jason’s assumption was optimistic. He had no idea that the last thing Rosalind wanted was to see anyone from the Yates family; they were simply bad luck.

But fate, it seemed, had other plans.

Just as Rosalind was about to get on her bike, a familiar voice called out from her side.

“What are you doing here?”

The speaker was her adoptive mother, Rachel Cooper, her tone dripping with disgust. She didn’t even bother to use Rosalind’s name.

Rosalind turned her head and saw a group of people standing nearby.

Besides her adoptive father, Sean Yates, there were also relatives from the Cooper family. Yolanda Yates, the real daughter, was there too, surrounded by them like a princess.

Yolanda was supporting an elderly woman, whispering something in her ear with a gentle smile.

The old woman seemed very pleased with Yolanda, patting her hand gently, her demeanor elegant and serene.

Rachel clearly didn’t want the group behind her to see Rosalind. She stepped to the side, blocking their view. “I asked you a question. What are you doing here?”

Rachel tried to hide her irritation, but her tone betrayed her.

“Rosalind, we made ourselves very clear yesterday. Your real parents are in the countryside. Why aren’t you looking for them? Why did you follow us to the Caesar Hotel to make a scene?”

She assumed Rosalind had followed them, lurking outside and waiting for them to emerge.

Yolanda looked at Rosalind with innocent eyes, as if she wanted to say something but held back. She simply lowered her gaze demurely. “Mother often taught me to help others. It’s the foundation of being a healer.”

“Excellent.” The old woman’s approval grew. She gestured towards Sean. “You are a fortunate man to have such a wonderful daughter.”

Sean had been debating whether to reveal Rosalind’s identity.

After hearing the old woman’s words, he made up his mind. “It’s all because Yolanda is a good girl.”

Unlike the fake one, who never knew how to read the room.

Sean approached Rachel. “I’ll handle this. You go on inside. No need to worry so much about a relative.”

Rachel looked at Rosalind and sighed dramatically. “Then please, talk some sense into her. The girl has had it tough.”

Her words were full of pity, but her eyes screamed: This is not a place for you. Get lost.
