Go Back and I Rule There novel Chapter 75

Rachel shot to her feet, her voice loud. “Yolanda, what’s wrong with you? Why are you out here alone? Where’s your mentor?”

Yolanda grabbed her hand, lowering her voice urgently. “Mom, let’s talk when we get home.”

Rachel wasn’t stupid. Realizing something was wrong, she turned to the other women. “It’s her old dizzy spells acting up again. I have to get her home right away.”

The wealthy women exchanged glances.

Who did she think she was fooling?

Dizzy spells? More like she got eliminated early.

Yolanda was quick to read the room and sagged against Rachel. “Mom, I’m having a trouble breathing, but don’t worry, I didn’t embarrass you. The consultations are over.”

With everything that had happened, the consultations couldn’t possibly continue.

It had to be said, Yolanda was clever enough to analyze the situation.

Sure enough, less than five minutes later, the doors to the main hall swung open, and all the renowned doctors began to file out.

The society wives all stood up, their attention shifting away from the Yates mother-daughter duo.

Yolanda seized the opportunity and dragged her mother away!

The two of them ran, breathless, down the path.

Yolanda didn’t want to be humiliated in public.

Rachel, her elegant composure gone, demanded, “What in the world happened?”

“If it weren't for their reputation in the medical world, if we didn't need them to connect with the Turner family, would I have humbled myself like that and let her—mmph!”

Before Rachel could finish her tirade, Yolanda clamped a hand over her mouth. “Mom, keep your voice down! Everyone in Sol is cutting ties with the Gonzalez family right now. That million dollars is gone. You can’t ever mention it again.”

Sometimes, she wondered how she could possibly have such a stupid mother.

If it weren’t for the Yates family’s money and fortune, which could help her climb the social ladder, she never would have come back!

Rachel didn’t notice her daughter’s dark expression. She lowered her voice, biting back her bitterness over the lost money. “But that was a million dollars! Still, you’re right. We can’t have any connection to the Gonzalez family now.”

She’d risked everything and lost it all. Rachel’s mind raced; she had to warn her family back home. The Yates family wasn't important enough to be linked to Aaron, but her own family… that was another story. Luckily, they were in Prax. There had to be a way to avoid this mess.

Yolanda hadn’t noticed her mother’s distraction. She was focused on something else. “Mom, how good are Grandma’s medical skills, really? In the hall today, she seemed like a completely different person…”
