Go Back and I Rule There novel Chapter 43

Warner tilted his head slightly, his eyes half-closed.

Every time she leaned over, the tips of her hair would brush against his arm.

During a massage, one's senses are heightened.

Warner watched the long strands of her hair at his side, his gaze deepening.

The massage wasn't long, only twenty minutes.

Yet several times, Warner felt an almost magical urge to twine her long hair around his fingers.

“All done,” Rosalind said softly, ending the session by pressing her thumb into key points on his legs. “You can get dressed now.”

Only then did Warner realize he had broken out in a sweat.

Unlike the cold sweats he usually got when his illness flared up, his whole body felt warm.

He looked up at Rosalind, his eyes inscrutable. “Thank you.”

“Today was just a short session to stimulate your appetite,” Rosalind replied. She had also broken a sweat, and her fair face was dewy, causing strands of her long hair to cling to her pale neck. It only made her lips seem more vividly red, creating an image of cool, enchanting beauty.

Warner's throat felt inexplicably dry, and he reached up to tug at the collar of the shirt he’d just put on.

Rosalind moved to his side to get her needles, her hand resting on his again as if checking his pulse.

Now that Warner was sitting up, he was even more aware of her breathing.

Each soft exhale brushed against his neck, cool and gentle, yet it stirred a restless feeling within him.

Rosalind seemed to notice his pulse. “Your breathing is unsteady. Are you feeling hot?”

Warner gave a soft “Mm,” turning his breathtakingly handsome face to the right. “How much longer?”

His voice, when he spoke, was unusually deep and husky...

Rosalind nodded, her eyes clear. “Indeed. Don’t worry, I’m not trying to take advantage of you. To me, it makes no difference whether you're a man or a woman.”

She said it to put her patient at ease.

But to Warner’s ears, it sounded entirely different.

He smiled slowly, his eyes darkening to their very depths. ”It must be that I'm too plain to catch your eye.”

David entered right on cue, just in time to hear that sentence. He took one look at the position she and his young master were in, and his eyes widened.

Thud! The basin fell to the floor.

David stammered, “what… what are you trying to do to my young master?”

“I…” Rosalind was about to explain when suddenly!

A frantic shout came from outside. “Rosalind, it’s terrible! Someone's blocking your grandmother at the end of the alley, saying she killed a patient!”
