Young children lack a concept of good and evil. Galeno, born with a naturally fierce disposition and abandoned by his parents, had no understanding of what he should or shouldn’t do.
It was less that Mrs. Yates Sr. had rescued him and more that he had been beaten into submission by Rosalind before agreeing to stay at the clinic.
Over the past three years, his constant contact with herbs had softened his features, giving him a harmless, clean-cut appearance. However, as the old proverb says, chaos is inherently destructive… and anyone he targeted was bound to suffer greatly.
Rosalind sat in the small courtyard, still twirling the acacia blossom between her fingers, a slow, deliberate smile on her face…
Late that night, at the Gonzalez family estate, Mrs. Gonzalez Sr. was still in bed, recovering from the immense shock she had suffered.
Downstairs, a number of medical students had gathered. They were all disciples Mrs. Gonzalez Sr. had taken on over the years, and they were waiting for a chance to show their loyalty.
Among them, Logan and Mary were the most prominent. Yolanda wasn't with them because as soon as Mrs. Gonzalez Sr. had woken up, she had summoned her and Rachel upstairs.
Yolanda’s eyes reddened the moment she saw Mrs. Gonzalez Sr., showing more distress than if it had been her own grandmother. “Master, what happened to you? Who upset you like this?”
“Who else but you people…” Mrs. Gonzalez Sr., with a cooling patch on her forehead, was about to launch into a tirade but caught herself, slowing her speech. “I was tricked by a young girl.”
Yolanda was puzzled. “A young girl?”
“That poor relative of yours from the backwoods.” The memory of Rosalind made Mrs. Gonzalez Sr. grind her teeth in hatred. “She scammed her way right into our hospital!”
Yolanda exclaimed, “Her?”
Rachel was instantly furious. “That stubborn leech!”
