"What?" Warner asked, his wrist, adorned with the crimson bracelet, looking both noble and aloof.
This only fueled a destructive urge.
Especially since he was wearing a meticulously tailored suit.
Rosalind reached out, her fingertips landing on his diamond cufflinks, her smile suddenly bewitching. "Let me take a bite, how about it?"
She had never made such a request before.
Every time her temper flared, she would endure it, dousing her head with freezing water.
For some reason, when faced with him, she felt an unconscious desire to test his neck with her teeth, to see if it was as cool as it looked.
Normally, anyone would refuse.
But Warner just chuckled softly. "Bite where?"
"Your neck." Rosalind was already impatient, her tongue tracing her lips as she smiled wantonly.
Warner wrapped an arm around her waist, lifting her up so their faces were level, his breath hot against her skin. "This height should be more convenient for you."
"Indeed." Rosalind had no time to consider the intimacy of their position. In this narrow space, he had her pinned against the wall, whispering softly, while outsiders could only see his tall, imposing back.
They would be oblivious to what was happening in the corner.
Besides, no one ever came here. It was out of the sun and held no stored herbs.
Aside from Rosalind sneaking a smoke here occasionally, the spot was deserted.
Right now, all she could think about was quickly suppressing the restless feeling in her blood.
She didn't even notice the bob of his Adam's apple.
"There's something in your blood," was the first thing she said.
Warner supported her, tucking a strand of her long hair behind her ear. His eyes were incredibly deep, as if they could pull her in. "What is it?"
"It could be a poison, or something else." Rosalind didn't have any clues yet, but one thing was certain. "To me, it smells delicious."
Warner spoke as if they were discussing something mundane. "If you want to do this again in the future, you can come bite me anytime. It can count toward your medical fees."
"No, just this once." Rosalind felt her body temperature rising, a thin layer of sweat forming on her skin. "I have a feeling getting involved with you will be very difficult…"
"What?" Warner raised an eyebrow.
To shake off. Rosalind left the last words unsaid, pushing against the wall to stand up.
But he pressed her back again. "Are you planning a love-'em-and-leave-'em? Bite and run without taking responsibility?"
