Smith wasn't stupid. Realizing he was being tricked into talking, he puffed out his cheeks and declared, "The boss is very good to us too!"
"Is he?" Rosalind's eyes curved upward slightly. What a shame. She thought she might get some useful information, but this chatty man was surprisingly quick-witted.
Smith nodded formally. "The boss has no flaws!"
"That's not what you said a moment ago. You said I would be the one to get hurt," Rosalind said calmly.
Smith's scalp tingled. "I was just talking nonsense. I can see the boss is very serious about you. He would never let you down. It doesn't matter if your family backgrounds are different!"
"Oh?" Rosalind toyed with an abacus, her smile absent-minded. "Too bad your boss and I are just acting. How can you tell he's serious about me?"
Smith jumped again. "Acting?!"
"Keep your voice down." Rosalind frowned and glanced toward the courtyard. Seeing that everything was normal, she tied back her long hair and looked up at the medicine cabinets. "Yes, acting. So don't go spreading rumors."
Smith was confused. "Why are you acting?"
"For my grandmother's sake." Rosalind quickly grabbed herbs, seemingly without needing to weigh them.
Smith was still lost in his own thoughts.
Even if this Cure-Master had incredible medical skills and could heal the boss...
He wouldn't have to offer himself up in marriage, would he?
What could possibly make the boss willingly play along with such a charade?
"I..." Warner started to speak.
Megan held up a hand. "Don't rush to argue with me. Your every word and action show a breeding that money alone can't buy. That kind of grace is cultivated over generations. On your own, you seem wonderful, but I know Rosalind's personality. She can't compromise one bit. In a family like yours, what will happen to her when she marries into it?"
Megan smiled again. "I'm not trying to pressure you for any guarantees. Since she introduced you to me, it means she's fond of you."
"And that makes me happy. Otherwise, I really don't know how she would ever move on. After all, ever since she was little, she used to tell me, 'Grandma, when I grow up, I'm going to marry Zach.'"
When I grow up, I'm going to marry Zach?
Upon hearing this, Warner's hand froze in mid-air…
