"Yes, I agreed." Rosalind's posture was relaxed; she didn't pay much mind to his question.
Warner, however, frowned imperceptibly. He wanted to invest, and she refused.
Yet she accepted an offer from some unknown Mr. Bright…
Warner seemed to chuckle. He leaned in close, his cool, clean scent mixed with medicinal herbs reaching her nose. Perhaps because the air was growing chilly, even his presence felt cool. "Why not choose me?"
Rosalind looked up, a hint of confusion in her eyes, but she offered a reasonable explanation. "The Homp Group's next project happens to be in medical investments. We talked, and it's a good fit all around. The Martinez family's business is all overseas; it's not suitable for medicine."
Her words sounded perfectly logical.
But Warner's smile only widened, his eyes devoid of warmth. He toyed with the bracelet on his wrist, his thoughts hidden. "You're right. The Martinez family isn't suited for medicine."
But my last name isn't Martinez.
Besides, the Homp Group has been seeking foreign investment recently.
Her lies were piling up.
Did she not feel close enough to him?
Or had she only ever seen him as a patient?
Warner lowered his gaze, his aura turning dangerously grim.
David could sense his boss was displeased.
But he couldn't figure out the exact reason why.
As for Smith, he had been marveling at the pharmacy since he stepped inside. "My God, I've only seen medicine cabinets like this in historical dramas! With the apothecary scales and the mission to heal the sick, is this the medical culture passed down for thousands of years?"
He admired the layout of the front counter, his blue eyes filled with delight. "Miss… Doctor, is this for sale? I'll pay any price."
He was pointing at the weights for the scale.
"It's not just your lower back. Your neck and thoracic spine have issues too," she said calmly, though her hands moved with surprising strength.
While Smith was still in shock, he heard two more cracks as she adjusted his neck, once to the left and once to the right. Then the young woman announced, "All done."
"That's it?" Smith was incredulous. He touched his lower back, then looked at his boss. "The stiffness is really gone!"
So his boss' friend was truly a miracle worker!
That would explain why his boss flew back specifically for her!
"Heavens, this is incredible!" Smith looked at Rosalind, his initial curiosity replaced by pure admiration. "How did you do that?"
Rosalind gave a wicked smile. "You can call it the mystique of medicine. How would you like to pay?"
"Pay?" Smith was a little slow on the uptake.
Rosalind frowned and turned to the man who had been silent this whole time. "Hey, your friend isn't planning on getting a free treatment, is he? You can be treated for free, but not him."
