Go Back and I Rule There novel Chapter 139

Sean had his own brand of cunning. Mr. Bright had made such a grand entrance; he was bound to attract attention.

He figured he could ask Mr. Parker or Mrs. Zade and find out which shop Mr. Bright had visited. If all else failed, he would just go find Megan herself.

But before he even got far, he spotted Yves standing guard outside a rustic local diner. And sitting at a table by the window was Fitch himself.

Sean was floored. He had been eating here when he was a kid.

Why on earth would a man like Mr. Bright be eating here?

In fact, Rosalind had chosen the spot. Mr. Martinez operated on one principle: convenience. "Order more meat. Galeno likes it."

Fitch's smile was practically fawning. "Bring us twenty orders of lamb!"

Galeno heard this and held up five fingers.

Rosalind's voice was light. "Fifty orders."

Fitch immediately corrected himself. "Fifty orders!"

He glanced at Galeno, marveling, "L is only this agreeable when he's with you, Boss. I can't believe he was the first one to find you."

Rosalind just hummed in acknowledgment, not elaborating.

Fitch rolled up his sleeves and unwrapped the silverware for her. "Boss, L seems a bit… distant with me."

He didn't even pull his hair when they met. That wasn't normal. And his eyes weren't that color before.

Rosalind stroked Galeno's head. "His growth spurt was too fast, and he didn't get enough nutrition. It affected his mind."

Fitch was shocked. "What do you mean, 'affected his mind'?"

Yves' tone was icy. "Mr. Bright has never met you, Mr. Yates. A toast won't be necessary."

"Mr. Bright seems to be in a good mood," Sean persisted, craning his neck to see inside. "Who in the world is he eating with? And why would they meet here?"

Yves stood firm. "Mr. Yates, if you continue, I'll have to call security."

"No, no, don't do that," Sean said obsequiously, even trying to light a cigarette for him. "I'm just curious. A man of Mr. Bright's stature, actually unwrapping silverware for someone else. I just wanted to see who it was."

Yves wasn't falling for it and turned his head. "Get him out of here."

In that brief moment, Sean stretched as tall as he could and peered inside.

And in that one glance, he froze completely.
