Estelle's phone suddenly rang. She glanced at it, then stood up and walked to the side to answer the call.

Jonathan had already caught a glimpse of the caller ID on her screen, a shadow crossing his face.

Estelle said as she walked, "We're at the Sapphire Hotel now."

Manley asked, "What are you doing there?"

"Mr. Foster's throwing an engagement party. Charlie brought me and Kya along," she replied.

"You should've told me earlier, so I wouldn’t worry," Manley grumbled.

Estelle shrugged, a smile playing on her lips. "What could possibly go wrong? I'll just be home a bit later."

"That's not the point. If I don't see you when I get home, I worry. It doesn't sit right with me," Manley huffed. "Alright, I'm coming to get you now."

"Okay," Estelle agreed.

She hung up and turned back to find Jonathan gone.

Reseated and waiting, it wasn't until Carson and Marina had finished speaking and the guests clapped that she got up to find Kya in the garden.

Groups of young people were setting off fireworks in the garden.

By the fountain, Charlie had somehow found a bubble machine and was spraying bubbles into the light. Kya was chasing after the bubbles, her laughter ringing clear and excited.

Estelle looked at the two playing together, and couldn't bear to disturb them for a moment. "Estelle!"

She turned at the sound of a surprised voice to see Josiah and Amiee striding towards her.

They had all kept in touch over the years, so her return to J City was no surprise to them.

Josiah's face was all excitement, but he complained, "Why didn't you tell us you were back first? You're here for Mr. Foster's engagement but not us, we're chopped liver to you!"

"She's adorable!" Josiah walked over, a balloon in his hand to amuse Kya.

"Kid, here's the balloon!" Josiah approached, showing a bright smile, and handed the balloon to her. But Kya's smile froze. She ran to Charlie, terrified.

Charlie held Kya tightly, gently patting her head, and glared at Josiah. "You grin like a creep. If you scared Kya, I won't let you off. Back off!"

Josiah's eyes widened. "What did I do?"

Then he looked incredulous. "Are you treating her like your own kid?" Josiah sneered. "So what if she's a kid? I don't care! I can have kids too, and I'd protect them from you!"

Charlie scowled. "Just go!"

Josiah snorted. "It is just a kid,what’s the big deal! I don't give a damn! I can have kids too, and once I do, I'll protect them from you!"

Charlie was speechless.
