Find Me In Your Labyrinth novel Chapter 2537

“I would never ignore your calls on purpose,” Sylvia said softly. “Even if I couldn’t get in touch, I’d make sure to let you know what’s going on.”

Eugene’s usually clear, gentle voice dropped to a low timbre. “So… are you still going to stop talking to me?”

The office was dim, the only real light spilling in from the dazzling city beyond the window—J City’s skyline sparkling, alive with possibility. Eugene’s gaze was intense, full of hope, but there was an undercurrent of nervousness in his eyes.

Sylvia hesitated, then shook her head. “No. I won’t.”

A grin broke out across Eugene’s face, lighting up his features. The relief and joy he felt seemed to transform him completely—like the first flowers of spring bursting through after a long, harsh winter.

Sylvia stood and stretched. “I’ve arranged for Amy to stay in one of the company’s guest rooms for the night. It’s late, Eugene. You should head home and get some rest.”

“I’ll drive you back,” Eugene offered quickly, a note of concern in his voice.

Sylvia laughed. “No need. Even if Harry comes looking for me, I can handle him. His little tricks don’t scare me.”

Eugene shrugged with a mock sigh. “That stings a little. Maybe I should go find a coach tomorrow, train until I earn a black belt, and then come pick you up again.”

His playful tone made Sylvia laugh even harder. “Go for it. When you reach black belt, you can be my bodyguard.”

“Deal. I’ll hold you to that.”

They exchanged a few more jokes, then switched off the lights and left the lounge together.

When Sylvia got back to her office, Amy had finished dinner and was recounting the story of how she’d first met Harry to Milanda. Judging by Milanda’s pinched expression, she was doing her best not to lose her temper.

Sylvia’s arrival was a timely rescue.

Together, they reassured Amy, urging her to get some rest and try not to overthink things. After making sure she was settled, they all headed out.

On the way down, Milanda shook her head and sighed. “Amy’s hopeless—a total sweetheart, but she’s got zero self-preservation when it comes to love. I almost lost it listening to her talk about Harry like he’s some tragic hero. I couldn’t bring myself to say what I really thought.”

Eugene grinned. “Never thought I’d hear there was something you wouldn’t say.”

Milanda rolled her eyes. “Not only did I bite my tongue, I even had to look appropriately heartbroken for her sake. Thank God you and the boss came back, Mr. Winters. I was about to lose it.”
